Frenuloplasty
Content
Description
Frenuloplasty and frenulotomy are operations on the frenulum of the penis (Lengthening of the penile frenulum).
The frenulum forms the connection between the foreskin and the glans and is located on the lower part of the penis. Sometimes it is too short and causes problems during sexual intercourse, when it can tear and cause bleeding.
There are also nerve endings on the frenulum responsible for arousal, which is why frenuloplasty is also suitable for patients with premature ejaculation to delay climax.
Facts
- Local anesthesia
- Outpatient procedure
- Procedure takes up to 30 minutes
- Recovery in 2 weeks
Frenulotomy - cutting the frenulum and frenuloplasty (repair of the frenulum) is a minor procedure under local anesthesia and takes up to 30 minutes.
The surgeon (urologist) cuts the frenulum and sews up the wound with several stitches.
The ideal candidate is a patient with:
- Short frenulum (frenulum breve)
- Patient with a torn frenulum
- Premature ejaculation (ejaculatio praecox) caused by too short frenulum
After the procedure, stitches remain, which are removed after 2 weeks (currently, resorbable stitches are preferred, which fall out by themselves).
The wound is treated with chamomile baths (2 - 3 weeks).
Sexual abstinence is required for 14 days.
