Tattoo Removal
Content
Description
Tattoos, which create an artistic piece of canvas from your skin by inserting pigment, may fade, lose color or change their shape due to aging and changes in skin hydration.
Currently, laser treatment is a very effective method for tattoo removal.
The laser emits light of different wavelengths and can thus disrupt the pigment of the tattoo (photothermolysis), which is subsequently broken down by the immune system.
Facts
- No anesthesia/Anesthetic cream
- Outpatient procedure
- Procedure takes 15-20 minutes
- Recovery in a day
Before the laser application, the skin is cooled or treated with an anaesthetic cream.
- After laser treatment, the skin is temporarily reddened, small blisters or crusts form - however, the redness, slight swelling and crusts will subside within 4 days.
- The quality and depth of the tattoo varies, so the procedure usually needs to be repeated (4 - 8 sessions over 4 - 6 weeks). Gradually the tattoo fades.
- Sometimes, however, even after the most perfect treatment, permanent signs of the tattoo remain and the tattoo cannot be completely removed - but it is certainly more inconspicuous.
- The laser is also used to remove permanent make-up (tatoo of eyelids).
After the procedure, protection from direct sunlight is necessary.
It is also advisable to avoid sauna and solarium during the first week.
